Igatpuri is about 140 Kms from Mumbai. A small town at about 1900 ft above sea level, on the Mumbai - Nashik route.
Reaching there:
Road: Regular ST buses between Mumbai & Nashik. Driving-NH 3 via Shahpur and Kasra Ghats. Takes 3 hours.
Rail: Tapovan Express to Igatpuri. Or A Local train to Kasara from CST. And bus or taxi from Kasara to Igatpuri. About 2.5 hrs in train and about 30-40 minutes by road from Kasara to Igatpuri.
Accomodation: There are a couple of hotels. Manas Resorts and Ganak Motel over look the valley and the rivers. Hotel Ashwin is in the town. Golden Resort is about 5 kms from Igatpuri and is nestled between the hills. We stayed at Ganak Motel and had food at Manas and Ashwin.
What to do in Igatpuri: Walking. Climbing the hills. Falling. Rolling in the Valleys. Chasing the streams and waterfalls. Trekking to mountains.

Hi Liangwin,
Thanks for the comments on my blog on Igatpuri. Igatpuri is at its best in Monsoon. You have to go in Monsoon.
There are a few hotels. Hotel Manas is the most expensive. Others are Hotel Ashwin, Ganak Hotel and Golden Resort. Google will help you to get the numbers as I don't have them with me.

thanks

Unny

Zeel: You can take a Mumbai local till Kasara and from there either ST bus or share taxi.
The hotel Ganak (close to Manas resorts) we stayed was cheap, but not sure it is still there. Hotel Ashwin is there, not sure abt the rates. :-)
